Although the Holy Spirit is sufficient to guide you in all truth, the
following are some principles and guidelines that
you may find helpful in facilitating your fellowship group:
 | Confidentiality: "What's said here stays here!" |
 | Freedom: "Everyone is encouraged, but no one is forced to participate." |
 | Responsibility: "You'll only get out of it, what you put into it!" |
 | Unconditional Acceptance: "We are all in process." |
 | Respect for personal boundaries: "We are to treat others as we want to
be treated, with respect!" |
Others have found it helpful and transformational to adopt some of the
guidelines from Christian 12 Step groups. Here are a few examples you may want
to consider:
 | We respect the confidentiality and anonymity of
each person: “What is said here stays here!” |
 | We avoid “crosstalk” (interrupting out of turn)
and offering unsolicited advice and counseling during the meeting. |
 | We provide each other personal support and
accountability (grace, truth and time). |
 | We provide safety for honest sharing of personal
thoughts and ideas. |
 | Everyone is invited to share, but no one is
obligated to do so. |
 | Limit your sharing to 5 to 10 minutes and focus
on recent experiences and events, sharing your personal experience,
strength and hope. |
 |
Allow everyone
in the group to share once before you share a second time. |
